‘Road Romeos’ have field day on New Year's Eve in Bengaluru - Some get thrashed

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jan 1: Miscreants tried to get satisfaction by indulging in sexual harassment on the eve of New Year (NY). Road Romeos were particularly active at Brigade Road, M G Road, and Koramangala here.

A few perverts sexually harassed a group of girls who were celebrating the arrival of the New Year at Koramangala 4th B Road of fifth block. A few miscreants went ahead and inappropriately touched the body parts of a girl and also posed threats to her, it is said. The girl, who felt threatened, began to sob and complained to police who were on duty nearby. By the time the police reached the spot, the mischief mongers had gone away. The girl has filed complaint in Koramangala police station, and the police are verifying CCTV footage to identify the concerned.

Although the police were present in large numbers, they could not totally avoid the mischievous activities of young men. A youth who approached a girl from the direction of Opera Junction House, made physical contact with a girl at which the girl immediately hit him with her footwear. In another instance, a girl who was on her own, was approached and touched by a man. She tried to hit him but her friend calmed her down and led her away.

A girl who was drunk, was dancing her way through the road when two touched her indecently. She hit both of them at which they pushed her to the ground. In another incident, a girl who was waiting to go home at Brigade Road was being teased by three men. They also handed over flowers to her, proposed to her, and harassed her in various ways. As soon as they realized that their behaviour was being recorded on camera, they were taken away by another man.

Near the petrol bunk, mischief mongers brushed against three women who were walking by. The girls somehow escaped from them and went near the police, thus saving themselves from further embarrassment.

Sometimes in the environment of celebration, some miscreants seize the opportunit, harass the celebrants and spoil the festive spirit.
Sometimes, cultural police become dictators and spoil the festive spirit.
Both parties feel they're right but anything that is excess is poisonous!
