Hassan, Jan 2: Mobile diesel bunk, the ambitious project of central government for easy supply of fuel to rural parts of the country, got drive in the state of Karnataka on the New Year's Day.

Two mobile diesel bunks have started working in the state from Wednesday, January 1. While one started working in Bengaluru, the other started functioning from Channarayapatna taluk of Hassan district.

If the consumers place their demand through online booking, diesel tanker, having a capacity of carrying 6,000 litres of diesel, will arrive to the point of delivery requested by the consumer. The tanker contains diesel gun, meter and rate display as in normal stationary petrol pumps. In addition, it also carries equipment to fight fire in case of emergency.

The main aim of this project is to supply diesel to huge machines that carry out work at rural areas, in addition to, agricultural activities and tractors. Kantaraju, who has took the contract for the mobile diesel bunk in Channarayapatna taluk says, "Central government has brought this project in order to avoid scarcity of fuel to the machines and equipment in the rural areas of the country."

Consumers can either call on mobile or book on online the quantity of diesel that they require. An OTP will be sent to their mobile number. The tanker will go to the delivery point based on the details provided in the OTP.

Kantaraju, who has the licence of mobile diesel bunk further said, "Spot delivery of diesel will be done for order of 100 litres and above. In total 100 mobile diesel bunks are approved in the country. Out of them two are allotted to Karnataka. The diesel will be supplied within a limit of 100 km from the taluk center. Bharath Petroleum has provided unique tanker for this purpose. Permission is given for diesel initially. In future, this might be extended to petrol also."
