Mangalore: KCO, Abudhabi Distributes Scholarships to Students

Mangalore, Sep 20: Konkani Cultural Organization (KCO), Abu Dhabi presented education scholarships for students at Scholarship Disbursal Programme jointly organized along with Samanvaya, Urvastore at Samanvaya Hall in the city on Sunday, September 20.
Speaking on the occasion, Leo Rodrigues said that KCO was formed in Abhudhabi to promote the culture of homeland as well as to help needy students and poor. The scholarship is a token that expresses this intention and can be compared to the petal of a flower and not the flower. The scholarship will help a student reach his goal with needed education, he said.
“It is very important that students’ retain humanity and not forget the moral, social and human values after reaching their goal,” he said adding that people will be recognized for the values as such and hence with education, students also need to learn to live with ethics.
Leo Rodrigues distributed scholarships to students. A total of Rs 6 lac was distributed as scholarship to 85 students from four districts namely Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikmagalur and Kasargod. The scholarships were distributed to students from engineering, nursing, diploma, BEd, DEd, BCom and PUC students.
Laveena Rodrigues, wife of Leo Rodrigues, Robert Rego, former president of KCO, Franklin D’Cunha, treasurer, Jerry D’Mello, former treasurer and Fr Ronald Cutinho of Samanvaya among others were also present
Fr Coutinho of Samanvaya conducted a seminar on `Life Values and Life Skills’ forn students prior to the programme.
