Woman Ends Life after Watching 'Sach Ka Saamna'

Agra, Sep 21 (IANS):  A 32-year-old woman here allegedly committed suicide after being deeply affected by watching actress Roopa Ganguly in the television reality show "Sach Ka Saamna". She felt her life was similar to the actress' in many ways and that she had failed as a daughter, wife and mother, police said.

Pallavi, who has a 12-year-old son from her estranged husband, was living with a man called Dharmendra, who too is separated from his wife. She was found hanging from the ceiling fan Sunday, police officials said.

Dharmendra told police that Pallavi was moved by some questions relating to Roopa Ganguly's past on "Sach Ka Saamna" Saturday night and had been depressed since then.

On Sunday afternoon, neighbours knocked at their door but found no response. They then called Dharmendra, who runs a photo studio near the Taj Mahal. When he opened the door, he found Pallavi hanging from the fan.

She had left a suicide note, which is with the police now, expressing her deep anguish with life.

The note said: "All are good in the world except me. I couldn't be a good daughter, mother, sister or wife and have become a problem for all...therefore (I am) going away, far away. I remember my son Kavi. Inform my husband and son of my death. Perhaps they may come for my last rites."

About Dharmendra, she wrote: "Dharmendra is a very good human being, he takes good care of me, but I can not continue to remain a keep of his."

She did not blame anyone for her death in the note.

Dharmendra told police that Pallavi found many similarities between herself and the life of Roopa Ganguly, best known for playing Draupadi in TV series "Mahabharat".

"She felt as if every question was directed towards her and took the show to heart," he said.

"Sach Ka Saamna", which is now off the air, is a show where contestants are asked personal questions and a polygraph machine decides if their answers are true or not. Hosted by Rajeev Khandelwal, the show has seen common people as well as celebrities participating.

The producer or the anchor does not compell anybody to come on the show. In fact, In the middle of the episode the anchor also cautions the participant. For the participants, I beleive its the lust for quick money. People have to understand Money does not grow on trees & you have to pay a price in order to earn quick money. For the people who need the show to be banned......Please watch animal planet or discovery science instead coz this show is meant for mature audience

This show airs at 11PM. Which means its meant for mature audience only. The contestants are not forced to come and participate. They come by their own will. The answers to questions asked are all about them, if they have no problem answering, who are we to call the questions disgusting? The TV comes with an off switch and few buttons to change channels. Use them if you don''t like what you see! And as far as people who commit suicide ''because'' of watching a one hour program, let me tell you this. Normal/Happy people will never do that. They may feel sad for themselves etc, but will never take this ultimate step. This lady was clearly depressed BEFORE watching the show. She could not digest it and that pushed her over the edge. Its a pity, but all of us are not mentally strong. Its wrong to call her foolish. May her soul RIP.

A human should face life. If he can''t then this kind of suicide is inevitable. Suicide is not an option for any kind of trouble/difficulties and ups and downs of his or her life. Face life at any cost and hope God will guide you if you are sincere, humble and polite. One should control him/herself of watching the tv and internets within the limits. Crossing beyond the limits will geopardise his or her life similar to this news.

Mr.Henry, For your kind information, the most disgusting thing in this world is our "MIND" and thank GOD we cannot read read other''s minds, else it would have been very disgusting. The reality is we do all kinds of disgusting things throughout our lifetime and we do not have a problem with it, we only have a problem facing it and do not want other''s to know our disgusting deeds. So, if you do not want other''s to know it, then SIMPLY DON''T DO IT!

When it comes to TV, television has both good and bad things in it. If you take the examples, Sanskar, God TV, QTV etc give you all information relating to Devotional and spiritual life. some channel like FTV, Zee trendz gives you all rubbish infos in the name of fashion. but wat ever it is, remember that the remoote control of the TV is in our hands itself. so we just cannot blame anyone for her death.

I THINK YOU ARE STILL LIVING IN THE PAST...... SO PLZ MAKE UP YOUR MIND ..TAKE IT AS AN ENTERTAINMENT SHOW IF YOU CANT TAKE IT AS A REALITY SHOW & AS FAR AS YOUR PASSION FOR THE COUNTRY IS CONCERNED I THINK YOU DONT YOURSELF ABOUT THE FILMS IN WHICH OUR HEROINES COME IN TWO PIECE CLOTHES AND DO YOU THINK THAT IS ACCEPTABLE IN OUR CULTURE..SO THERE ARE A LOT OF ISSUES TO DEAL WITH IN INDIA BEFORE HEADING TOWARDS SUCH KA SAAMNA .. AND FOR PEOPLE WHO COMMIT SUICIDE THINKING THAT THE ISSUES ARE SIMILAR TO THIER LIFE ITS TOTALLY FOOLISHNESS... SO JUST CHILL AND EITHER WATCH THE SHOW AND ENJOY OR LET OTHERS WATCH IT....
