Nadda kicks off pro-CAA rally in Goa

Panaji, Jan 3 (IANS): BJP national working president J.P. Nadda on Friday launched Goa's first major pro Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) rally in the state capital.

Thousands of BJP workers from several constituencies, mostly from North Goa have arrived in the state capital to participate in the rally, which began at Patto business district, to the city's central square, Azad maidan.

Nadda is expected to address a public meeting later on Friday, along with Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and other BJP leaders.

"Our party working president will be addressing the rally in favour of CAA in Panaji. The rally is expected to be attended by around 20,000 to 25,000 party workers. Nadda ji will put the CAA in context and expose the Congress mis-propaganda," state Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary Sadanand Shet Tanavade said.

The BJP is conducting pro CAA rallies across the country to drum up awareness and support for the legislation, which has faced stiff opposition from rival political parties and civil society groups.
