AMUSU supports JNU students, seek SC intervention

Aligarh, Jan 6 (IANS): The Aligarh Muslim University Students Union (AMUSU) has strongly condemned the 'brutal attack on JNU Students by ABVP masked goons' and has sought the intervention of the Supreme Court in the situation.

In a statement issued here on Monday, AMUSU vice president Hamza Sufiyan said that the students of AMU stand in solidarity with the students of JNU in this hour of crisis.

"Those goons must be strictly booked under various sections of IPC. If government is booking people even for protesting, then it must lodge cases against the people who have gone inside a university campus, beaten up students and vandalized the premises," the statement said.

AMUSU has further demanded that those who are responsible for this attack on the student community must be arrested immediately.

"We also demand resignation of Vice Chancellor, JNU who is ineffectual to maintain law and order on the campus and the environment of campus is continuously disturbed due to him. We demand to Supreme Court to take suo motu cognizance of the unprecedented situation arising in the country," the statement said.
