Mangaluru violence - Fact finding team to make public its report in two weeks

Mangaluru, Jan 8: A fact finding team led by retired judge said that it has collected statements given by eyewitnesses as well as injured and affected persons and the general public besides putting together evidences of different kinds.

The fact finding team was here to find out the truth behind the disturbances in the city and firing incident that killed two persons.

The team said that its members also visited hospital to collect information. It plans to prepare the report and make the findings public within 15 days. Before that, it wants to bring out the essence of the report.

Members of the team, Sugata Srinivasaraju and Venkatesh provided this information to media persons. Sugata Srinivasaraju, member of People's Tribunal delegation and veteran journalist, lamented the fact that the team had contacted a number of hotels to hold press conference but the police department had denied them a venue by pressurizing the hotel management.

    Police can deny but the evidence in CCTV, public witnesses and video captured by various people cannot be termed as fake. Ultimately, truth must prevail and justice must be done. No on is above the law of the land.
