Udupi: ‘Revenue officials to visit homes, distribute facilities’ – Minister R Ashok

Udupi, Jan 9: “A unique programme by department of revenue of going to the doorsteps of people and distributing facilities titled ‘Halligalige Nadeyiri Adhikarigale’ will be implemented soon,” said minister of revenue R Ashok. He was speaking after inaugurating mini Vidhana Soudha building constructed in Udupi at a cost of Rs 10 crore.

He said, “Deputy commissioner of all the districts in the state, sub divisional officers and tahsildars will on one day in the month, sort out the applications of people pending for some time at the doorsteps of the people after listening to the issues. The date for the programme throughout the state will be decided soon.

“Rs 7,500 crore are being spent for pension scheme in the state every year. Between Rs 800 to Rs 900 crore will be saved by making sure that the amount does not go to unworthy people when the beneficiaries are linked through Aadhaar. A programme to approve pension by going to the doorsteps on the basis of date of birth on Aadhaar is planned in the state. A pilot project in this connection is implemented in Udupi and 2,000 beneficiaries are identified. Their pension will be approved soon.

“Officials are asked to identify land for crematorium in every village. Rs 70 crore pending for compensation towards cremation has been released.

“A revenue division will be opened in Udupi for the convenience of people as there is only one revenue division in Kundapur at present,” he said.

MP Shobha Karandlaje inaugurated sub registrar office in mini Vidhana Soudha.

Minister of home, cooperative and district in charge minister Basavaraj Bommai said that Rs 5 crore should be paid as gift to district administration for leading in revenue and performance in the state. “Let the sub registrar offices be free from agents and help poor,” he said.

Minister of Housing V Somanna, Udupi zilla panchayat president Dinaker Babu, vice president Sheela K Shetty, Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Karkala MLA V Sunil Kumar, DC G Jagadeesh, zilla panchayat CEO Preethi Ghelot, additional DC Sadashiva Prabhu, sub divisional officer Raju and others were present.
