Mangalore: Hundreds Run for Healthy Heart on 'World Heart Day'

Mangalore, Sep 27: The KMC Hospital and K S Hegde Hospital in association with DK Chapter of Indian Medical Association organized World Heart Day Run and Marathon Walk to mark the World Heart Day in the city on Sunday September 27.

KMC Hospital that organized the World Heart Day Run for the fifth consecutive year began the run from KMC, Bejai at 7.30 am. District-in-charge minister J Krishna Palemar flagged-off the run led by International athlete Vandana Rao. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA N Yogish Bhat, SP Dr A S Rao and Manipal University Registrar Dr G K Prabhu were the chief guests. The run concluded at the KMC Hospital near Jyothi Circle. Students of various colleges participated in the run.






































A complete heart screening package of Rs 777, offering 40 per cent discount was launched on the occasion. Further treatments including Angiogram, Angioplasty and CABG procedures will be performed at a discounted price for a period of one month as part World Heart Day. 

Meanwhile, Marathon Walk organized by the department of cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery of K S Hegde Hospital in association with DK Chapter of Indian Medical Association was inaugurated by superintendent of police A Subrahmanyeshwar Rao from Mahaveer circle in the city. Nitte chancellor N Vinaya Hegde presided. 

The two-kilometre walk concluded at IMA Hall, Attavar. Several colleges from the A B Shetty and Nitte institutions participated in the marathon.
