Chennai, Jan 11 (IANS): ITC Hotels on Saturday announced the opening of its 172-room Welcomhotel GST Road near here.
The nine-storied hotel with a built-up area of over 23,580 square metre is located in the midst of Tamil Nadu's industrial and automobile hub and is about 30 km from the Chennai International Airport.
"The south of India has emerged as a key market in India's tourism landscape and Chennai is a key gateway city of the southern region with good infrastructure and connectivity that favours Tamil Nadu's growing potential as a business and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferencing and exhibitions) destination," Anil Chadha, Chief Operating Officer, was quoted as saying in a statement.
At present, the brand Welcomhotel has a portfolio of 16 hotels with over 1,900 keys and 15 hotels in the pipeline, adding over 1600 keys.
