Dubai: Karkala Bhuvanendra College Alumni to Meet in UAE

Dubai, Sep 30: The alumni of Sri Bhuvanendra College (SBC), Karkala in Dakshina Kannada, residing in UAE have come forward for a cause to meet in UAE on Friday October 9 and Saturday October 10 at The Foodlands Restaurant in Deira of Dubai and Abu Dhabi from 7 pm to 11 pm, respectively.
Arun Puranik, president, Old Students’ Association and professor B Padmanabha Gowda, principal, SBC will be present on the occasion. "This is going to be an excellent opportunity to meet former students of college as well as support for a cause as noble as development of the college," says Ramachandra Hegde, one of the former students, who resides in Dubai.
"Old Student's Association of SBC Karkala has decided to construct an indoor stadium at an estimated cost of Rs 1 crore in memory of Late Prof Damodar Kini K, founder principal of the college and donate the same to SBC on its golden jubilee function on Jan 23, 2010, stated a media release from former students in UAE.
"The construction of the stadium is under progress. The foundation stone for the proposed stadium was laid on March 21, 2005. The slackened pace is due to paucity of funds. Though the old students back home have done their best to support the noble cause another 45-50 lac is needed to complete the project in full," added the release.
The meeting in Dubai will be for old students from Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, UAQ, RAK, Fujairah, Kalba and Dibba and the meeting in Abudhabi is for old students from Abudhabi and Al-ain.
