Markets open in red


Mumbai, Jan 15 (IANS): The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) on Wednesday opened on a negative note during the morning session of the trade.

The Sensex of the BSE opened at 41,969.86 -- the high point, and then touched a low of 41,830.54.

It was trading at 41,840.65 down by 111.98 points or 0.27 per cent from its Tuesday's close at 41,952.63.

On the other hand, the broader 50-scrip Nifty at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) opened at 12,349.40 after closing at 12,362.30 points.

The Nifty was trading at 12,322.55.
