Udupi, Jan 16: Devotees and villagers from various parts of the district offered rice, coconuts, oil, and vegetables mainly very famous 'Mattugulla' (brinjal) on account of upcoming Admar Math Paryaya 2020-22, on Wednesday, January 15.

Sri Ishapriya Theerta Swamiji flagged off the Horekanike procession at Malpe.

Addressing the occasion, he said, “We all learn lessons from others. There are lots of things to learn. Let us adopt good things in our life and make those thoughts at the right time. One should learn to make sacrifices.”

Appreciating the dedication and commitment of devotees, Swamiji said, “If we take a resolution, we should follow it throughout our life. One should not have expectations after donation. God will like them. One should see God in needy people before donating anything. God will fulfill scarcity and the wishes of devotees.”

The Ugrana (storeroom) is set up at the parking space at Sri Krishna Math.

The offerings will be used for the preparation of Maha Annasantharpana for the next two years’ mid-day meal.

According to the committee, “As many as 40 tons of rice, three tons of jaggery, 1,000 litres of edible oil, 13 tons of Mattugulla, 1,000 kilograms of gray pumpkins, 500 sweet pie pumpkins were collected in the Horekanike.

K Raghupathi Bhat, honourary president, Sri Krishna Seva Balaga, Yashpal Suvarna, in-charge of Horekanike procession, Dr G Shankar, Govindaraju, members of Krishna Balaga, and other dignitaries, were present.

The procession started from Jodukatte, moved through Court Road, Diana Circle, Alankar Road, Thriveni circle, Kanakadas Road and culminated at the parking area, where volunteers unloaded the items.
