Bengaluru: Kundapur Vaman Kamath tipped to be next finance minister?

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jan 16: Will Kundapur Vaman Kamath, popularly known as K V Kamath, guide the country's economic revival? Will the responsibility of piloting one of the leading economic systems of the world be handed over to him? If some sources and rumours doing the rounds are to be believed, K V Kamath has emerged as the front runner to occupy the august position of the finance minister of India at a time when India is trying to find ways to wriggle out of the subpar GDP and give an inspirational leadership towards the country's march to better growth and solid financial standing.

K V Kamath is currently the chief of BRICS Bank. Kamath has the rich experience of managing financial responsibilities. He is a non-political individual and it is said that the centre is thinking of appointing him as the finance minister as it thinks he is capable of tiding over the current situation.

K V Kamath (left) with PM Narendra Modi

If Kamath becomes finance minister, it will be a deviation from traditions and paves way for great changes. The issue will also be widely discussed not only within the country but also abroad.

Kamath (72) has served as chairman of private sector ICICI Bank and software behemoth Infosys, in the past. He also has served as independent director of Houston-based oil company Schlumberger, and Lupin, an India-based pharmaceutical company. He also happens to be a member of the governing council of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Petroleum University.

Kamath was born on December 2, 1947 in Mangaluru. He spent most of his childhood there and got primary and PU education through St Aloysius College. He secured his degree in mechanical engineering from KREC Suratkal and got postgraduate diploma in management from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

In democrecy we have to accept the Government of the day even if we have differences. If we are not satisfied with the Govt. pl. wait for next election to change them. But in the present political sinerio we have no alternstive. There is no threat to the Narendra Modi from any quarter. There is no leader comparable with him as of now. Whether they are right or wrong will only be judged in days to come by public.

What they got by chasing the ex-ministers and putting them under judicial custody. Where is proof ? How IT succeeded in disclosing these minsters undisclosed wealth? Where Lacs of Crore rupees (so called black money) disappeared. Why black money holders names are not made public? I do not think anyone can revive the country fast. First the government should forsake all nonsense amendments and give importance to roti kapda aur makaan.

Tadipar mota bhai should be asked to be on silent mode for at least a year. Pickly aunty Nimmi should be sent back to Madras to fry papads.

Narendra is trying to use Kundapur Vaman Kamath as a "wild card" entrant to undo / repair the goofup he committed and try to salvage the "sinking boat" economy of the country. No matter how hard he will try, it's a totally gone case situation. Narendra equalled himself with Manmohan Singh thinking he was a great economist. He also thought that this demonetization gamble would pay off and must have never dreamt that the economy would take a beating. Narendra and his government is doomed due to wrong immature decisions taken without consulting anyone. Just goes to show the sheer unprofessionalism and lackadaisical approach taken to intentionally "derail" the economy.

While it is good that that Mr. Kamath is being considered for the post, it is equally important that Modi gives up the preposterous idea of playing dirty politics over religion and must put a full stop to all this nonsense. I have my own doubts if any sensible person would like to be the Finance Minister if Modi and his team try their best to pull the economy back by dividing the country on religion. Mr. Kamath, no doubt, would be a good choice but he must put his foot down and tell Modi in no uncertain terms that he will not tolerate this nonsense of dividing the people on the basis of religion.

This highlights the utter helplessness and desperation of the BJP in power. They don't have people who are accomplished enough to carry out the duties of the Finance Minister. It is very clear that Nirmala doesn't have it in her to deliver the goods. It is really surprising that not one in the BJP is competent to steer the country out of the present morass it has been pushed into. True, Yashwant Singh could have done a good job but the problem is he is not a sycophant and that is why he was not considered for the post. In the bargain, who has lost? Quite clearly the country. Anyway, better sense seems to have prevailed at least now and it is a gratification that Mr. Kamath is being considered for the post. I sincerely hope for the sake of our country, he succeeds in a big way. The only thing is that he has to be given a free hand and I am sure he will bring in the much needed whiff of fresh air. Finally, yes finally, some good news from this BJP government.
