Media Release

Mangaluru, Jan 17: Presidency School, conducted a formal farewell for their Grade X and XII students of Batch 2019-20 on January 14. The theme for the valedictory ceremony this year was ‘Dreams, Desire and Destiny’.

It is a great day to bid farewell for the students. All staff and students accompanied by their parents attended this resplendent evening. This ceremony was graced by the chief guest Shobhana Manohar, dean, Humanities and HOD English School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya.

The solemn event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp followed by an invocation song. To honour the memory and the secularism in school, prayers from Guru Vachan, Bhagavad Gita, Bible and Quran were read out by the students, teachers and parents. The mantle of responsibility was passed on to the school vice-captain and a solemn oath was taken by her. The ceremony progressed on by the valedictorian speeches and songs presented by the outgoing students with fervor and gratitude. It was indeed a sight to behold to see the valedictorians, girls dressed in formal saris and the boys in their suits, seated on the dais with pride after having crossed a milestone in their lives.

Director J Bhuvaneshwari addressed the audience the significance and of the theme for the evening by quoting anecdotes of some successful people of this era. Her piece of advice and guidance to the outgoing students was about dreaming a vision, following it to achieve their destiny. The chief guest Shobhana Manohar inspired the students to return the knowledge they have acquired to the society and wished them luck.

Yet a turning point in this juncture was the felicitation of the teachers, housekeeping and the admin staff for serving the institute for the specific period of time. It was a moment of surprise and thrill for them for recognizing their hard work and dedication towards the institute.

The function was also graced affluently by the testimonials of the parents which signify school’s grooming of the students from toddlers to adolescence. A video “recollection” reflected on the fond memories of the students and took them down the memory lane adding nostalgia to the air. The evening culminated with a formal vote of thanks and the illuminating candle lighting ceremony. The aisle of the darkened amphitheatre was lit brilliantly by the candle light that sparkled from the candles held by the outgoing students, parents and teachers as a mark of enlightenment.

The function culminated by the corridor of blessings by the parents and the teacher to their beloved ones, followed by the formal photo session of the valedictorians.
