Rajasthan residents get the chills as mercury dips


Jaipur, Jan 17 (IANS): Residents of different cities and towns in Rajasthan experienced a cold day on Friday as the minimum temperatures recorded a dip in the last 24 hours, Met officials said.

Churu recorded the lowest temperature of 3.3 degrees Celsius in the desert state. Sikar recorded 4 degrees, Sri Ganganagar and Pilani 4.1 degrees, Bikaner 5.3 degrees, Jaisalmer 6.4 degrees, and Jodhpur and Ajmer 6.5 degrees Celsius.

Rain was recorded at many places, including Deeg (16 mm), Dholpur (15 mm), Bayana (9mm), and Karauli (6mm).

A cold wave accompanied by fog will persist in many areas of Rajasthan on Saturday as well, including Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Alwar, Dausa, Bharatpur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Pali, India Meteorological Department officials said.
