Bengaluru, Jan 18: State government headed by BJP has taken a step forward to ban Popular Front of India (PFI) and Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) organizations.

In a cabinet meeting that was held on Friday, January 17, a long discussion was held in this regard. The government has decided to take action on these two organizations as there have been several reports of these organizations involving in terrorist activities, murder and assault as per the information available to the government.

Speaking to the scribes after the cabinet meeting, home minister Basavaraj Bommai said, "The process of banning and controlling both PFI and SDPI has begun. A report will be sent to the central government in this direction very soon."

"From the last eight years, murder and plots to murder and systematic attempt to destabilise the law and order of the state, especially in cities of Bengaluru, Mysuru and Mangaluru have created panic among the general public. Government is committed to prevent violence and terrorist activities of these organizations," said the home minister.

Responding to query by one of the scribes, Basavaraj Bommai said, "It is known that PFI and SDPI have connection with several organizations, including Lashkar-E-Toiba. The earlier organization by the name Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) has transformed and reformed in various names. These organizations have a hand in several unlawful activities that have taken place in the state."
