Cong workers protest over RJD alliance in Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 18 (IANS): Hundreds of Congress activists on Saturday staged protests outside party interim chief Sonia Gandhi's residence over ticket distribution and the alliance with the RJD for the Delhi Assembly polls.

Hundreds of Congress workers from Patel Nagar, Karawal Nagar and Kirari Assembly constituencies arrived outside 10, Janpath and raised slogans against the party over its alliance with Lalu Prasad-led Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on four seats.

The party workers demanded that it should not have any alliance with the RJD in the national capital. The Congress is yet to release its candidate list. The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has released its candidate list for all 70 seats while the BJP has announced candidates for 57 seats.

The Congress despite ruling Delhi for 15 years from 1998 to 2013 was unable to win a single seat in the 2015 polls. The AAP had won 67 while the remaining three seats were won by the BJP. Delhi will go to polls on February 8 and counting of votes will take place on February 11.
