AMU: Seven-member panel to facilitate dialogue with students


Aligarh, Jan 18 (IANS): AMU Vice Chancellor Tariq Mansoor on Saturday constituted a seven-member committee to facilitate dialogue with striking students who have been protesting ever since violent incidents took place on the campus on December 15 last year.

The members of the committee are Mujahid Beg (Dean, Students' Welfare), Najam Khalique (Member, Executive Council), Najmul Islam (Secretary, AMU Teachers' Association), Mohd Nafees Ahmad Ansari (Dept of Political Science), Mohd Wasim Ali (Department of Law), M. Kalimullah (Joint-Secretary, AMU Teachers' Association) and Syed Mohammad Noman Tariq (University Polytechnic).

It was clarified by the VC office that the committee would also review matters related to FIRs against students, demands for compensation to injured students besides looking into other grievances of the students following last month's incidents.
