Mangalore: Chandrahas, Lavita Win 'Soad – II' Singing Contest

Mangalore, Oct 3: Chandrahas Suvarna Tokkottu and Lavita Lobo won the Soad – II, Konkani singing reality show finals aired in Namma TV and were conferred title, Rai Kogul and Rani Kogul, respectively at the final show on Saturday October 3.
Chandrahas and Lavita were honoured by with awards and Soad memento by Roy Castelino, proprietor of Roy Constructions. The awards comprise silver crown, Rs 25,000 and certificate. Shailesh Periera of Suratkal and Priya Menezes of Moodbidri were among the four finalists, who were declared runners-up.
47-year-old Chandrahas, basically is a singer in musical bands and autorickshaw driver by profession. He is the first non-Konkani, who has won this singing competition. He expressed his ambition to sing Konkani songs in future too as part of his service to the Konkani language and music field.
Lavita Lobo is a resident of Pumpwell and daughter of Ivan Lobo and Philomena Lobo. She is the first year student of St Aloysius Pre-University College.
Soad-II began with 143 contestants and panel of judges headed by Eric Ozario, gurkaar of Mandd Sobhann comprised music directors Alwyn Fernandes, Charan, music teacher Joel Pereira and singer Rony D’Cunha. The awardees were chosen based on scores of four rounds namely duet song-round, pop and rock round, technical round and Gummatt-folk singing round at the final contest. The show was hosted by Arun Raj Rodrigues.
At the recording of the final show at Chef’s Restaurant, Kundapur Narayana Kharvi, chairman of Konkani Sahitya Academy and office-bearers of Mandd Sobhaan were present.
