Mangalore: Six Direct Trips to Destination Haj from Oct 25

Mangalore, Oct 7: Minister for Haj, Wakf Board and minority development professor Mumtaz Ali Khan said that special direct flight service will be made available for Haj pilgrims from Bajpe airport in the city. According to the special arrangement there will be six direct trips in all for the season starting from Oct 25.
Speaking after inaugurating programme to provide mandatory vaccination for Haj pilgrims at a private hospital here on Wednesday October 7, minister Khan said that the flight from Bajpe to Mecca-Madina via Calicut will help ease the travel of 700 pilgrims from four districts namely Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttar Kannada and Madikeri, he said adding that as the special trips are a first-time initiative, pilgrims are urged to overlook any lapses in facilities.
There are 1.42 lac beneficiaries of the scheme, who will undertake pilgrimage tour from India out of which 7,000 are from the state including 700 from the region. The state government too has declared Rs 18,000 as subsidy to each pilgrims, he said. Training camps for Haj pilgrims will begin from October 23 at Bajpe airport, informed the minister.
Haj Ghar to be Set Up
Minister further said that Haj Ghar would be set up in Bangalore in the next two years on the land available with the Wakf department at the cost of Rs 20 crore. The department has with it Rs 10 crore for the purpose and the works that are likely to begin soon. It has also been planned to conduct Haj camp in the same building next year, he said.
Rs 1 crore for Ullal dargah urus
Minister announced that state has allotted Rs 1 crore for Ullal Dargah urus celebrations through Wakf Board. On the occasion, he urged the people of the district, which is highly educated to maintain peace and harmony steering away clearly from any kind of violence and disturbance during the celebration.
MLA N Yogish Bhat, Haj Committee president Mohammad Ghouse, members Salim Ambagilu, Iqbal, former minister B A Moideen, Minority Development Corporation chairman M P Aboobacker and vice-president of Bharatiya Janata Party Anwar Manippady among others were present.
