Mangalore: SJEC Successfully Holds State Level Program -'Rendition 09'

Mangalore, Oct 8: Genesis, the forum of MBA Students of St Joseph Engineering College, inaugurated its first state level paper presentation contest titled 'Rendition 09' at Bethania Hall, St Joseph’s Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor here on Tuesday October 6.

Chief guest, Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Jacob Crasta in his inaugural address said that the MBA students should imbibe entrepreneurial qualities and become future entrepreneurs rather than budding managers. He called on students to grasp the opportunities to climb the ladder of success with dedication and hardwork, thus join hands together to build the nation.



Dr Joseph Gonsalves, principal, SJEC in his presidential address remarked that the students should strive to achieve an equillibrium between academics and extra-curricular activities. He reinforced that "To be a good manager, one should be able to manage his or her own personal life well". 

Crasta was felicitated on the occasion. Prof A Jayakar Hegde, dean-academics, Prof Eric Patrao, dean-planning and development, Dr Prakash Pinto, dean-MBA, Fr Anthony Serrao, parish priest of St Lawrence Church, Bondel, Smita Jesudasan, faculty co-ordinator of Genesis, Nelson Castelino and Priya Sequeira, student co-ordinators were present. 

At Rendition – 09, twenty papers were presented in the three areas of Human Resource, Marketing and Finance. The valedictory function was held at 4.00 pm wherein Marjorie Aranha Texeria in her address stressed on the importance of values of integrity and honesty in one’s life.

Winners
 
She felicitated the winners at the valedictory ceremony. The prizes won at Rendition-09 are for papers presented under Human Resource area, first prize - Mohanesh Chengappa, NITK, Surathkal for the paper titled ‘Employee Training and Development Needs for Proposed Mangalore Petroleum SEZ’ and second prize - Reema S Bangera, A J Institute of Management for the paper titled ‘Competency Mappint’, under Marketing area, first prize -  Rachana Poovamma, Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology for the paper titled ‘Issues and Challenges in Rural Marketing’ and second prize – Priya Jyothi Sequeira, St Joseph Engineering College for the paper titled ‘Rural Marketing’, under Finance area first prize - Vijay Kumar T Karne, Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology for the paper titled ‘Why do Mergers and Acquisition quite often fail?’ and second prize - Smitha Shenoy P, HR Institue of Higher Education, Hassan for the paper titled ‘E-Banking’.

    Congratulation to Fr Vally, Dr Prakash Pinto and all the staff and students for conducting such a program in the college. We need more of such program's which will make the students to think beyond their curriculum
