Bantwal: Vishwa Tulu Sammelan Regional Programme in Town on Oct 10

Bantwal, Oct 9: The regional programme being organized as part of the Vishwa Tulu Sammelan set to be held at Ujire in December this year, will be held in the premises of Rani Abbakka Tulu Studies Centre located at Sanchayagiri, B C Road on Saturday October 10.

The programme will be inaugurated by Dharmastala Dharmadhikari, Dr D Veerendra Heggade. MLA B Ramanath Rai will preside. Kuvempu University vice-chancellor Dr B S Sherigar and Bangalore retired assistant police commissioner B K Shivaram will take part in the programme as chief guests, said the Sammelan’s Bantwal Taluk Committee convener, A C Bhandary, at a press conference held on Thursday October 8.

The programme will showcase the cottage industries, family occupations, demonstration of riddles that have been passed on through ages, idioms etc., prevalent in Tulu culture. Practicals on various aspects of Tuluva life and seminars will also be organized, he informed.

During the recess period between different programmes, short items depicting Tulu culture, competition on Tulu idioms and riddles, apart from the 'Ural' (the comforting voices the people create while ploughing) will also be there for the people to experience for themselves.

The valedictory ceremony will be presided by the district in-charge minister, Krishna J Palemar. Dr B M Hegde will deliver the valedictory address.  MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and veteran writer, Erya Lakshminarayan Alva, will take part as chief guests, he added.

The seminars will be conducted by Dr Ganesh Amin Sankamar, lecturer of St Aloysius College, Saigeeta,  lecturer of K S Hegde Medical Academy Deralakatte, Dr B Shivaram Shetty, professor in Mangalore University, and Prof Krishnamurthy, head of the department of Kannada, Govinda Dasa College Suratkal, he revealed.
