New Delhi, Jan 27 (IANS): The national capital on Monday witnessed a cloudy sky with the air quality index (AQI) falling in the 'very poor' category at 336. However, the air quality is expected to improve as the weather office predicted rains during the day.

The temperature is expected to hover between seven and 22 degrees Celsius.

"The sky will remain generally cloudy throughout the day with light rains or drizzle expected," an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.

According to the System of Air Quality Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), the air quality of the city was recorded under 'very poor' category at 336.

"Under the influence of fresh western disturbance, AQI is likely to improve after afternoon (on Monday). By Tuesday, the AQI likely to reach the lower end of the very poor to the higher end of poor category. Fairly widespread rainfall is expected and further improvement in AQI to the poor to moderate category is expected by Wednesday," SAFAR said.
