Karkala, Oct 10: Union minister for law and justice, M Veerappa Moily, will be visiting the town on Monday October 12. He will take part in a conference of Congress workers to be held that day at 10.30 am, at the local Manjunath Pai Hall.

MLA H Gopal Bhandary gave this information at a press conference held here on Friday October 9.  "As Moily will be on his maiden visit to the taluk after becoming the union minister, we will accord him a fitting welcome. Plans were afoot to hold this programme since a month, on a grand scale. But, because of the grief and pain inflicted by the rains and floods at several parts of the state, the programme will be simple," he explained.

He revealed that the party has decided that the well-wishers and fans should not spend money on garlands and other such things to show their respect to the visiting minister. Instead, they should donate the money they would have otherwise spent on these things, to the Flood Relief Fund, he said, and asked the people to cooperate with the party in executing this decision.

Bhandary came down heavily on the state government for affecting transfer of officials without rhyme, reason or system. He charged the government of converting the transfer issue into business that has also cast its shadow on the government offices in the taluk. The haphazard transfer of officials indicates that corruption has played a role behind these transfers, he noted. The government has become bankrupt, and has been unable to disburse salary to the government primary school teachers since the last four months, he charged. "I had never seen such a government that is devoid of any dignity," he said.

Block Congress president Aveline Louis, municipal president Subhit N R, party spokesman Bipinchandrapal and many others were present.

Dear Mr Moily and Congress men. Moily is not returning home from the border killing and defeating our enemies!. Karnataka is reeling under post flood blues and more or less average farmer of our state has been badly affected. Why to spend money, be it party funds or government funds, for pomp and show. Please donate this money to CM's or PM's relief fund. Have simplicity. How come you encourage such spendings when our own brothers and sisters are under duress and huge debt.

The crops have been destroyed, houses have been damaged, farmers are facing bleak future, state economy is in turmoil. GOd and nature, both are angry with us. Have simplicity and be role model. Why we have forgotten Gandhian philosophy? Congress ideologies, thoughts and election manifestos have been confined to papers only and nobody is putting them into practice. They only knows how to preach and when it comes to practice they forgot themselves.

If they really want to regain power in karnataka, they must adhere and adapt simplicity. Now instead of playing political card, all the parties must get together and work for the welfare and betterment of citizens of karnataka. How come you celebrate your homecoming when your people and neighbours are in deep trouble as a result of loss of lives/property etc. I really dont understand the logic of such celebrations. When can we have a clean political system?????
