Riyadh, Oct 10: Overseas Indian Cultural Congress-Riyadh (OICC) organized a variety of photos’ exhibition depicting all walks of life of Gandhi, and other cultural events to mark Mahatma Gandhiji’s birthday Bat’ha Half Moon Restaurant Auditorium here, recently.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Kanyal, Attaché in Indian Embassy in Riyadh. Munambu, an eminent leader from Kerala, kicked off the programme.
After inaugurating the exhibition, Kanyal addressed the audience and said that “we should inculcate the values and philosophy of Gandhi as he is the true symbol of humanity and non-violence.” Gandhi set the example of passivity in his movement as a model for us, he said.
The opening session was followed by a seminar on “Gandhi and Che Guevra" which was inaugurated by a renowned educationist Samuel. A drawing competition conducted for children on Gandhi. After evaluating the entries, the prizes were conferred to the winners.
OICC is a non-profit voluntary organization constantly working for the welfare of expatriate Indians in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). The organization is based on the ideals and policies of Indian National Congress. OICC worked in a number of issues and problems connected with humanitarian and labour issues, which the Indians often encounter in the KSA.
