Nation greets people on Basant Panchami


New Delhi, Jan 29 (IANS): On the occasion of Basant Panchami, leaders and prominent personalities across India greeted people and asked Goddess Saraswati for her blessings.

Taking to Twitter Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot greeted people saying, "Greetings and best wishes on #BasantPanchami. May Maa Saraswati bless all with wisdom, knowledge and happiness. Let us welcome the Spring season hoping for prosperity in everybody's lives."

Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal tweeted,"Warm greetings to all on the auspicious occasion of #SaraswatiPuja."

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad taking to the micro-blogging site, wrote, "May the Goddess Saraswati bless you with knowledge and wisdom on the festival of #BasantPanchami and #SaraswatiPuja."

Former cricketer Virender Sehwag, tweeted: "May Maa Saraswati bless you with a wealth of knowledge and wisdom. #BasantPanchami"

Basant Panchami, which is also known as Saraswati Puja day, is celebrated to worship the 'Goddess of Wisdom'. The festival is celebrated on the fifth day of the month of 'Magh', which marks the onset of the Spring season.
