Panaji, Jan 30: The Goa government will ban the entry of Goans in all the casinos from February 1 onwards, chief minister Pramod Sawant announced on Wednesday.
Sawant told reporters that the GST commissioner has been given powers as gaming commissioner who will have all the right to check whether Goans are allowed to enter the casinos.
Goa has six offshore and a dozen onshore casinos operating in the state.
The chief minister said that the ban on entry of Goans into casinos will be implemented from February 1 onwards.
“I had assured on the floor of the House during the last session (August, 2019) that Goans would be banned from entering casinos. We are going to implement the assurance,” Sawant said.
He said that the rules which are required for stringent implementation of the ban would be framed subsequently.
“We are going step by step.”
