Rs 64.80 crore sanctioned for Jammu, Srinagar medical colleges


Jammu, Jan 30 (IANS): The Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has sanctioned Rs 32.40 crore each for the Government Medical Colleges in Jammu and Srinagar to raise the number of MBBS seats under the Centre's 10 per cent quota scheme for the economically weaker sections (EWS).

The money would be spent on additional infrastructure and machinery required to meet the Medical Council of India (MCI) norms.

The Centre has granted permission for adding 30 MBBS seats each for EWS at Jammu and Srinagar medical colleges.
