Youth Cong files police complaint against Anurag Thakur

New Delhi, Jan 31 (IANS): A day after the Jamia firing incident, the Youth Congress has filed a criminal complaint against Minister of State, Finance Anurag Thakur for hate speech on Friday.

"Youth Congress President Srinivas B.V. lodged criminal complaint against Anurag Thakur at the Parliament Street Police Station on Friday for giving inflammatory hate speech leading to a man opening gunfire on peaceful protesters at Jamia," said Amish Ranjan Pandey.

The Youth Congress chief was accompanied by National Office bearers of the frontal organisation along with several other youth congress members.

A person opened fire at the Jamia protesters on Thursday while they were marching towards the Rajghat.

The opposition has alleged that it was the hate speech that Thakur made which resulted in the firing at peaceful students.

Anurag Thakur in a rally allegedly raised the slogan: "Desh ke gaddaron ko.. Those who are traitors should be..."

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has also questioned the BJP motive and the party alleged that "government has created Godse fan club in the country".
