Udupi, Jan 31: 'The preamble of the constitution is the mirror of India’s future way of life' The 71st Republic Day celebration was held at Nirmala English Medium School with a march past by the school band and escorting the chief guests’ Michael Furtado, along with other guests, Antony Barnes, Robert Lewis, correspondent Fr Victor Fernandes, principal Fr Joslie D’Silva, and Kannada Medium headmistress to hoist the flag.

The prayer song was sung by the students and then the hosting of the flag was done by the chief guest Michael Furtado. The national anthem began with Royal salute and the national song was sung by the students.

Rajath welcomed the gathering and proceeded to sing patriotic songs and speech by the students about the importance of fundamental rights in the Constitution and the role citizens have in upholding the Constitution of India. The chief guest Michael Furtado enlightened with his message on Republic day, Fr Victor Fernandes spoke about the importance of the fundamental rights and duties. The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks by Druva, and the whole programme was compered by Prajna.
