Youth Cong, NSUI protest against Anurag Thakur's remark

New Delhi, Jan 31 (IANS): Activists of the Youth Congress and the National Students' Union of India on Friday protested outside Union minister Anurag Thakur's residence here for his inflammatory hate speech, "which prompted a youth to open fire on a peaceful protest at Jamia the previous day".

The protesters marched to Anurag Thakur's house at 14 Janpath Road via Raisina Road and Rajendra Prasad Marg and were stopped by the police outside the residence of the Minister. Youth Congress President B.V Srinivas and NSUI President Neeraj Kundan were detained by the police and taken to Mandir Marg police station.

Leading the protest, Srinivas said: "The incident of a youth opening fire at anti-CAA protestors has a direct link to the inflammatory speech given by BJP MP and Union Minister Anurag Thakur on January 27."

Srinivas said Anurag Thankur's provocative speech calling upon people to shoot the "traitors" had "inspired" the youth to open fire on students on Thursday.
