Mangalore, Oct 15: Axis Bank, Urwa branch was inaugurated on Thursday October 15. The bank is situated in Aura Complex, Chilimbi near Urwastore in the city.
P G Ramesh, commissioner, Mangalore Urban Development Committee inaugurated the bank office, Fr Victor D’Mello, parish priest in Urwa Church inaugurated the ATM centre and A G Pai, Chief Operating Officer of Mangalore Special Economic Zone inaugurated the locker in the branch.
Gururaj Rao, senior vice-president of the bank said that the Axis Bank has 916 branches, including 63 branches in Karnataka alone, all over India covering 575 towns. The bank is approaching customers of rural areas in the state, he said adding that shortly it has been planned to open a branch in Puttur. The bank has already covered several smaller towns in north Karnataka region, he said.
The new branch has NRI services with NRE, NRO accounts, foreign exchange, FCNR deposit, instant remittance from Middle East, PIS account, Investment advisory services including senior citizens account, he added.
Businessman A J Shetty, Praveen Suresh, branch head and Gregory Fernandes, main bank branch head were present.
