Bhopal: Godman’s Self-immolation for General Welfare in Front of Policemen

Bhopal, Oct 15: A godman named Baba Avatar Das, 65, who had declared a week back that he would be attaining salvation in front of the people by getting cremated alive, kept his word. On Wednesday October 14, he immolated himself in front of the people and a few police officers.

The Baba did this act at Morena in the state. It is said, that he sat on the pyre and then poured kerosene on himself, before igniting the pyre. Station duty officer M P Sharma and town police officer Ravi Badoria, who witnessed the proceedings, are learnt to have saluted the Baba out of deep devotion, as he committed this act. They also video graphed the development in their mobile phones.

Many people, who had expectantly gathered at the venue, feeling that some kind of a miracle would happen, rushed to the nearby Lord Hanuman Temple after the act. The Baba had come to this temple two weeks ago from somewhere and had a week later, expressed his intention to attain salvation through getting cremated alive.

Superintendent of police Santosh Kumar Singh said later that the department will hold an inquiry into the incident.
