JNU violence: Court seeks ATR from Delhi Police


New Delhi, Feb 3 (IANS): A Delhi Court has sought action taken report from the Delhi Police over a plea seeking registration of a First Information Report (FIR) in connection with the violence that took place in the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on January 5.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Purshottam Pathak has asked the Delhi Police to mention in the report that - 1. Whether a complaint has been made by the complainant in the police station, 2. if yes whether any action has been taken on the said complaint, 3. Whether any investigation or enquiry has been conducted in this regard and if yes then what is the status of the investigation and 4. If any cognisable offence is made out whether any FIR has been registered or not.

The court has now posted the matter for hearing on March 25.

The directions were passed while the court was hearing a plea seeking court's direction of the court register an FIR in the JNU violence case. The plea was filed by JNU professor Sucharita Sen, one the professors who was attack during the violence on January 5.
