Mangaluru: National level Science fest Chimera 2020 held at SAC

Mangaluru, Feb 4: The UG & PG departments of Biotechnology of St Aloysius College (Autonomous), here recently organized a national level intercollegiate Science Fest 'Chimera- 2020' at Robert Sequeira hall.

Dr Anita Karun, director ICAR- CPCRI, Kasaragod was the chief guest. Dr Raghuveer Ramachandra, founder and director, GaloreTx Pharmaceutical Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru was the guest of honour. Fr Dr Praveen Martis, SJ, principal presided over the programme. Dr John E D’Silva, director of Xavier Block, Dr Richard Gonsalves, director of LCRI Block, Dr Sreelalitha Suvarna, HOD of PG Biotechnology, Dr Santhosh W Goveas, HOD of Biotechnology, Sreejesh P C, convenor and Pooja, student coordinator were present on the dais.

Dr Anitha Karun in her speech inspired the students to study Science with passion. She spoke on 'How there are various developments in the field of Biotechnology and how the students can explore more in this field of technology and encourage themselves'.



Dr Raghuveer Ramachandra shared his experience in the field of Science and 'How the students must reach out to the resource persons from that field and plan to build their career at an even rate'.

Fr Dr Praveen Martis S J in his presidential address emphasized on the need for all-round development of the students by involving in academics and extra-curricular activities.

Various competitions were held for students and the overall championship was won by NUCSER, Mangaluru while Bhandarskars College, Kundapur bagged the runner’s up.

Dechamma compered the programme. Sreejesh P C welcomed the gathering. Dr Santhosh Goveas introduced the chief guest. Pooja proposed the vote of thanks.
