Mangaluru: Sahyadri secures VTU first rank in MBA with 4 gold medals, 3 other ranks

Mangaluru, Feb 4: VTU rank list is out and it is indeed a joyous and a proud moment for Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management to announce that its students have bagged gold medals and ranks.

Dimple Reeshel Lobo, a student of Department of Business Administration-MBA obtained four gold medals and secured the first rank for her outstanding academic performance in VTU examinations for the academic year 2018-19. She will be awarded four most prestigious medals viz. Jain University Gold Medal, R N Shetty Gold Medal, Prof M R Doreswamy Gold Medal and VTU Gold Medal.

VTU 19th Annual Convocation will be held on February 8, 2020. The first rank holders and gold medalists will be receiving their degrees from His Excellency Vajubhai R Vala, the chancellor of Visvesvaraya Technological University.

Dimple Reeshel Lobo is the daughter of Denis Lobo and Late Rosa Lobo. She is currently working at KPMG, GDC, Kochi. She secured the second rank in B.Com.

Dimple had been awarded 'Best Outgoing Student – Academics' at Sahyadri. She also secured first place at ETTIN 2017 National level B-School fest conducted by Justice K S Hegde Institute of Management. She has completed a project titled 'Performance Analysis of South Canara District Central Co-operative Bank Ltd' using the CAMEL model for which she received the best project award securing 194 marks under the guidance of Ramesh KG.

When asked about her achievement, Dimple said, "It was a real surprise when I got to know that I have secured the first rank in MBA at VTU, something I thought to be far from possible when I first joined MBA. This is a true example that true dedication will really help you succeed in life. I am extremely thankful to God, my parents, family, friends and all those who have supported and guided me throughout my life."

"This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the faculty who kept motivating and guiding me from the very beginning as they believed that I had the potential, and it feels great that I could stand up to their expectations," she added.

"I would always be thankful to this Institution, Manjunath Bhandary, our beloved chairman and our principal, Dr R Srinivas Rao Kunte, for all the facilities provided to ensure the overall development of students. I would like to thank Dr Vishal Samartha - director MBA, and the entire MBA department for their constant support and guidance," she concluded.

The other rank holders were, Misbah Jamal, fifth rank from the Department of Business Administration - MBA; Radhika Nayak M, second rank and Anuradha P Annigeri, seventh rank from the MTech discipline of Structural Engineering (Civil Engineering).

Radhika Nayak is the daughter of Puttur Pandurang Nayak and Vijaya P Nayak from Puttur. She pursued her BE in Civil Engineering from Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology, Puttur. Thereafter, she worked as an assistant professor in Sri Devi Institute of Technology, Mangaluru, for a few years. Thereafter, she joined Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management to pursue her Postgraduate Engineering Masters’ Degree (M Tech) with specialization in Structural Engineering.

Radhika was an academic topper in primary and secondary school. She is a recipient of Rajya Puraskar Award for Bharathiya Scout and Guides. She is a multi-talented student who has presented many seminar projects at the state level during her school days. She has a passion for poetry and has been recognized as the best Hindi and Kannada poet in college. She has several achievements in the field of sports and music too.

In her message, Radhika thanked the management of Sahyadri for their support and motivation. Further, she also thanked the Head of Department and staff for their encouragement throughout her journey. Radhika states that the Sahyadri library inspired her the most and she considers it as her 'second home'.

Radhika is married to Sumeeth Bhat, an officer at Canara Bank. She is currently following her passion for music and aspires to continue her teaching profession in future.

Mishba Jamal is the daughter of Sheikh Jamal and Gulshan. She is married to Shahil Sheikh, manager at DU Telecom, UAE.

Misbah Jamal is specialized in Finance and has done her Bachelors in Business Administration. She has topped in second and fourth semesters of MBA at Sahyadri. She has also topped in her SSLC in AJI English School. Misbah Jamal is mentored by Manjunath Kamath M, assistant professor at the Department of Business Administration. She secured 194 marks out of 200 for fourth-semester project titled 'Comparative Analysis of Debt Fund and Equity Fund in relation to Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund.

In her message, Misbah said, "I always believed in giving my 100 per cent without thinking about the outcome. So even if I fail I will have no regrets. I have the same mindset when it comes to my academics and I believe my rank is the reward of my hard work and patience. I would like to thank God without whom it would never have been possible, my parents, teachers and my friends for supporting me."

"I am grateful to Dr Vishal Samartha, director, Department of Business Administration for encouraging us and making us believe in our self and my mentor Manjunath Kamath M, Girish and Ramesh KG for helping me in my project. I would also like to thank Manjunath Bhandary, chairman of Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management for inspiring us and providing us with the environment to develop. I would like to extend gratitude to the principal and the entire MBA department for their support," she added.

Anuradha P Annigeri is the daughter of Parshuram R Annigeri and Rukmini P Annigeri. She pursued her Bachelor of Civil Engineering (BE) at Smt Kamala and Sri Venkappa M. Agadi College of Engineering and Technology (SKSVMACET), Lakshmeshwar, Gadag and secured 72.21%. Thereafter, she joined Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management to pursue her Postgraduate Engineering Masters’ Degree (M.Tech), with specialization in Structural Engineering.

In her message, Anuradha said, "I thank Sahyadri for giving me a platform wherein I could showcase my abilities and secure the seventh rank in M Tech from VTU and represent my Civil Engineering Department."

"I would like to acknowledge every teacher and especially our beloved Head of the Department, Prof Sunil Kumar Rai, who believed in constant learning through activities. The college is equipped with all amenities and resources which include library facility, Wi-Fi browsing and well-equipped laboratories," she added.

"Also, how can I forget my loving parents who have always supported me in all decisions to attain a bright future. I also would like to thank the Almighty for showering his blessings to accomplish the desired result," Anuradha concluded.
