Bellary: Autorickshsaw Plunges into Tungabhadra Canal - Seven Killed


Bellary, Oct 20 (TNN): Seven persons were killed when an autorickshsaw plunged into Tungabhadra canal on Monday morning. The incident happened when rickshaw driver Yerriswamy lost control over the vehicle carrying eight agriculture labourers.

The victims have been identified as Lakshmi, Adilakshmi, Girijamma, Siddalingamma and Eerama, all natives of Kollagal. The bodies of Yerriswamy and another labourer Pakiramma are yet to be recovered. Two women have survived the accident. District minister G Janardhan Reddy has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh to each of the families of the deceased.
