Mangaluru: St Aloysius ITI to inaugurate ‘Aloysius Tech Fest 2020’

Mangaluru, Feb 7: Technology implies the up-to-date practical knowledge required for doing things efficiently and effectively manner. As part of the training, a technical model competition was arranged for the students.

The models created by the students will be exhibited on February 7 and 8 during Aloysius Tech-Fest 2020. Inauguration of ‘Aloysius Tech Fest 2020’ at St Aloysius ITI was held on February 7.

The programme commenced with a prayer song presented by the sewing technology students. Roshan D’souza, principal escorted the dignitaries to the dais. Fr Cyril D’mello SJ, director of the institution extended a cordial welcome to the dignitaries.



Jeevan Saldanha, industrial expert and proprietor of Spectrum Industries, Baikampady was the chief guest and the programme was presided over by Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ, rector of St Aloysius Institutions. The other dignitaries on the dais were Chethan Kumar, principal- Hebic ITI; Naveen Kumar, principal- BAITI, Thumbe; Divakar Shetty, HOD of Automobile Dept- SNM Polytechnic, Sunkadakatte; Alwyn Menezes, vice-principal; Noel Lobo, training officer and Raghavendra, convenor of the programme. The programme was formally inaugurated by lighting the lamps innovatively.

The chief guest, Jeevan Saldhana, proprietor of Spectrum Industries was felicitated during the programme. Receiving the felicitation, the chief guest said, “An Aloysian will have a sense of discipline, values and social responsibility. While doing a project, it rarely gets successful in the first attempt. There will be two or more attempts needed. Hence, we have to learn from the failures also. Every day is a learning process. There are thousands of ideas in us and we need to sell those ideas." He appreciated all the students for the projects done by the students who have thought independently and took courage to experiment.

In the presidential address, Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ, rector of St Aloysius Institutions said, “We all learn by watching, listening and by doing. The students have prepared the models by themselves in large numbers. It is not enough to have a talent, but one should also have the interest. A product should be designed with the purpose to benefit society. To achieve a goal, we should dream big and make the dream come true." He appreciated all the students for their efforts in preparing the models.

Umesh J A, junior training Officer proposed the vote of thanks. Robin Vas, junior training officer conducted the programme.
