Mangalore: IGP Denies Rumours of Bannanje Raja's Release

Mangalore, Oct 22: Rumours which claimed that Bannanje Raja, wanted by the Karnataka policemen relating to many criminal cases, arrested recently by the Dubai policemen, had been released by them on October 17, were flying thick and thin. The rumours said that the policemen there had released Raja after inquiring into the irregularities in the passport held by him and hence, he would not be handed over to the policemen here.
When contacted, western range inspector general of police, Gopal Hosur, denied the rumours. "We have delivered a red corner notice against Bannanje Raja within 24 hours of his arrest by the Dubai police. At present, legal formalities connected with the irregularities in passport are going on at Dubai. We are in contact with the policemen there. He will soon be brought to India and tried here," he stated.
Red Corner Notice Delivered to Dubai Police : DGP
In Bangalore, state director general of police, Ajai Kumar Singh, confirmed that the policemen of the state have delivered the red corner notice to their counterparts in Dubai through the Interpol, and that the department is in constant touch with the interpol on the issue.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the programme organized on the occasion of Martyr's Day, he asserted that Bannanje Raja would be brought here after the Dubai police complete their inquiry into the alleged irregularities they have found in his passport.
