Beltangady: Dharmadhikari's 42nd Ordination Anniversary - Hospital, Hall Planned

Beltangady, Oct 25: Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala, said that 1,000 houses will be built for the people of North Karnataka, who have lost their houses in the recent foods, through Sri Kshetra Dharmastala Rural Development Project. There are immediate plans to build a three-storied hospital with one lac square feet area and 200 beds at a cost of eight crore rupees at Ujire. Through Shantivana Trust, a new 25,000 square ft marriage hall will be constructed near the Samaj Mandir of Beltangady. For Lord Manjunatha, a new chariot (Brahmaratha) with a circumference of 44 feet and height of 54 feet will be built. A 49 feet high welcome arch is already coming up at Ujire. A similar arch will also be built at Periashanti, he said, adding that through the Dharmastala temple funds, a sum of Rs 2,52,11,005 had been given to various temples in the state, as financial aid.
He was speaking after participating in a ceremony to celebrate the 42nd anniversary of his ordination as the Dharmadhikari of Dharmastala, held at Dharmastala on Saturday October 24.
"The objective of every religion in the world is to teach the people to love one another. Without love, harmony and affection, life becomes a drudgery. Dharmasthala, where people find solution, solace and divine guidance for everything, is a place where righteousness has got embedded deeply," said retired Chief Justice of the state High Court, Justice A J Sadashiva, while speaking at the above function. He added that justice, independence and equality are being spiritually and literally practised in Dharmasthala. He also informed that donors have come forward to built 4,000 houses for the flood-affected people through the Dharmastala project and that the Dharwad SDM Dental College will soon get the recognition of an American university and that the students studying in this college will thereafter, be able get foreign degrees by studying here.
Hemavati V Heggade, SDM Education Society vice-president, Prof S Prabhakar, and secretary, D Harshendra Kumar, were present.
Achievers belonging to different educational institutions being run by SDM Education Society were honoured on the occasion. Some of the temple employees were also felicitated.
SDM Education Society secretary Dr B Yashovarma welcomed. D Rajendra Kumar distributed awards. Lecturer Sridhar Bhat presented the programme, while Lakshminarayan Rao proposed vote of thanks.
