Dubai: Ducont Ramps up DNRD’s e-government Services
Dubai, Oct 25: The Dubai Immigration and Naturalization Department (DNRD) has singled out Ducont, the leader in mobile banking and commerce solutions, for praise for effectively deploying its innovative mobile solutions that have led to smoother immigration operations.
This week, DNRD awarded Ducont the prestigious “Strategic Partner Award” for helping it integrate complex tasks on to a simplified platform. Ducont’s mobile solutions form an important part of the initiatives incorporated by the Dubai government as part of its e-government services.
Ducont has been at the forefront of developing and deploying innovative mobility solutions in the region and specializes in solutions for eGovernment, Banking and Telecom. It provides several services to various government departments and is the leader in providing mobile banking and payments solutions to over 30 banks in the region.
As part of its expansion of eServices across several channels, DNRD selected the Mobile bar coding platform of Ducont to implement one of the best innovations in the region branded ‘M-Visa’.
Using M-Visa, DNRD can send the visas directly on the phone of the visitor without the need for picking up the visas from the DNRD counters and then depositing them at the airport. While providing tremendous flexibility in the issuance of visas to visitors, it also improves their internal productivity and reduces paper work without compromising security.
Director of DNRD's IT Project Management, First Lieutenant Khalid Bin Mediya Al Falasi, said: “This service is very helpful for everyone as they can check on the visa status, residency laws and related information from anywhere using their mobile phone.”
Ivan Fernandes, Founder and Managing Director of Ducont, said “Being acknowledged by the DNRD is one of the key achievements in the growth of Ducont. This recognition gives endorsement to our belief in our products and solutions and shows the power of innovation that can be utilized across government agencies. Other departments surely have a great potential to apply similar solutions and Ducont sees a great future for its products.”
A new innovation for using government mobile services via USSD was launched by DNRD at Gitex last week as an extension to M-Visa. Individuals and establishments can now dial *150 and access various services of DNRD on the mobile.
“We have used the latest technologies and implemented these solutions to simplify and improve the business processes of DNRD. Ducont’s products are built on global standards and localized for local needs,” commented Mr. Tipusultan Guntaguli, Chief Technology Officer.
Ducont has won several awards since its inception in 2000 globally and this award seals the fact that when it comes to innovation in the region, Ducont leads from the front. In May this year, Tecom named Ivan Fernandes as “Entrepreneur of the Year” at its inaugural Tecom Pearl Awards.
