Mangalore: Rev Cabral Installed as Principal of Karnataka Theological College

Mangalore, Oct 28: A special service was organized at Bishop Jathanna Auditorium in Balmatta here, in connection with the installation of Rev Dr Honnibal Cabral as the new principal of the city-based Karnatala Theological College. At this programme, out going principal, Rev Dr J S Sadananada, was given a touching farewell by the staff and students of the college.
The programme started with a prayer by the former Bishop, Rev Dr C L Furtado, and the teaching staff of Karnataka Theological College - Rev D I Hans, Rev Sydney Salins, Dr D Dhanaraj, Dr Annie Watson, and Rev P James.
Rt Rev Prabhakara Rao, president of Karnataka Christian Educational Society, Bishop of the Church of South India at Karnataka Northern Diocese and Rt Rev S Vasantha Kumar, Bishop of Karnataka Central Division, Dr J S Sadananda, principal of the College, who was recently consecrated as the Bishop of Karnataka Southern Diocese, were present on the dais.
The Installation of Rev Hannibal Cabral as the new principal was led by Rt Rev J Prabhakara Rao, and the Bishop of the Church of South India at Karnataka Northern Diocese.
A farewell was given to the outgoing principal, Dr J S Sadananda. He was felicitated with flowers, shawl and a memento. Dr H M Watson, treasurer of the Society, delivered the farewell address. R Chetan, principal of Hebich Technical Training Institute, delivered words of nobility.
Former Bishop, Devaraja Bangera, Dr Victor Machado, Jeppu seminary and other dignitaries were present.
Karnataka Theological College had been set up by the Bassel Missionaries in the year 1847. When Karnataka Christian Educational Society was founded in the year 1969, the society was made the governing institution. At present, 16 different educational institutions are being run by Karnataka Christian Educational Society.
Dr Cabral, who hails from the city, studied theology at this college and served in different capacities at various sectors, after having been ordained into religious service in the year 1976. He got his post-graduate degree from Princeton University USA and doctorate, from Serampore University. He has been serving in the capacity of a professor of Karnataka Theological College, apart from being the director of ‘Kalasangama’ recording studio in the city, since the last several years.
Rev Cabral has contributed immensely to the fields of music, art, drama and literature. He has also won several awards for his achievements and contributions to this field.
