Saligao, Feb 16: An eight-year-old boy, Sahil Salgaonkar's body was found lifeless in the Chapora river below the Siolim-Chopdem bridge early Saturday morning. Reportedly the kid, a resident of Siolim, was missing since Friday.
Anjuna police inspector Suraj Gawas said Salgaonkar was a child with special needs and had been suffering from epilepsy. The missing complaint was lodged by the boy’s father who stated that Salgaonkar had gone to play with other children after coming back from school on Friday, but never returned. Police suspect that the kid fell into the river while suffering an epileptic fit.
Salgaonkar's body was spotted in the river by locals of Bhatti-Oxel, who helped police fish it out. Gawas said the body was subsequently sent to the GMC, Bambolim, for an autopsy and that further investigation was underway. Although, the suicide angle is likely to be ruled out.
