Mangalore: Annual ‘Pingara Award’ for SKDRDP

Mangalore, Oct 31: Ramond D’Cunha, editor, ‘Pingara’ periodical, said on Friday October 30, that Sri Kshetra Dharmastala Rural Development Project(SKRDP), promoted by Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadikari of Shree Kshetra Dharmastala, has been chosen for the annual 'Pingara Rajyotsava Award'.
Speaking at a press meet, he said, "SKDRDP, promoted by Dr Heggade, which for the past 25 years has aimed at stabilizing the poor people of rural villages in Dakshina Kannada and other districts in the state, has fetched him the award. There are 5,325 villages and 41 cities in nine districts of the state which are under his dream project of rural development”.
“Pingara, a Kannada weekly has been recognizing people born in the coastal districts for their remarkable service at the national and international level. Journalist Kuntadi Dayananda Pai, Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva’s Education Trust, Walter Nandalike, chief editor of Daijiworld.com, and Grace Pinto, Director of Rayan International School, have been presented this award over the past few years”, added D’Cunha.
“The award will be presented on Tuesday November 10, 2009 at Town Hall by Bishop of Mangalore Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza. The award ceremony will also have a musical orchestra by singer Anitha Samsan and team besides a Yakshagana performance”, he informed.
Members of Pingara editorial board Mamatha Rao and Sunil D’Cunha were at the press meet.
