Medicover Global opens 250-bed hospital in Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad, Feb 19 (IANS): Medicover Global, a leading healthcare and diagnostic services provider from Europe, on Wednesday launched a 250-bed hospital in Andhra Pradesh's Nellore town.

The group plans to further expand its operations in the coastal town with the setting up of Medicover Oncology Institute (MOI), a 100-bed cancer cure facility.

The group said that it has so far invested Rs 700 crore in India in the form of debt and equity and has committed another Rs 300 crore towards upcoming projects, including the MOI facility in Nellore.

Fredrik Ragmark, CEO, Medicover Global said the company will bring best-in-class technology, capital, world-class infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and other elite services to deliver quality, process oriented, patient-centric healthcare in India.

"This market is all set to witness tremendous growth over the next few decades, and Medicover Global is rightly positioned to tap into this opportunity," he said.

Medicover currently operates in Hyderabad, Kurnool and Visakhapatnam, in addition to Nellore.

The group is in talks to acquire a 500-bed hospital in Hyderabad, and is in the process of adding another 500 beds in Andhra Pradesh, by setting up a 200-bed unit in Visakhapatnam, and a 300-bed facility in Srikakulam.

Anil Krishna, Chairman, Medicover India, said that Medicover Global not only infuses capital, but also brings in processes and automation, which have emerged as key components in last-mile healthcare delivery.

Established in 1995 in response to the growing demand for high-quality healthcare services in Poland, Medicover subsequently expanded to other countries fulfilling similar needs.

Medicover's Healthcare Services currently encompasses 21 hospitals, more than 100 healthcare centres and 23 fertility clinics spanning Poland, Romania, India, Ukraine, and a partner network of more than 2,300 local healthcare service providers.
