Yeddyurappa gets a Breather but Dissidents Want him Out

New Delhi, Nov 1 (IANS) : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunday came out in support of beleaguered Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, his supporters said, but the dissidents continued to campaign for his removal.

Leaders of the rival BJP groups from Karnataka pursued their lobbying here, meeting party leaders including L.K. Advani, Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley.

Several legislators and MPs belonging to both the camps - one supporting Yeddyurappa and another favouring the Reddy brothers of Bellary - are in the capital.

Revealing the thinking in the highest echelons of the BJP, state party president Sadananda Gowda said that Yeddyurappa would remain the chief minister.

Yeddyurappa backers -- former MP Dhananjay Kumar and state Home Minister V.S. Acharya -- met Advani here Sunday and said they had been assured that there would be no leadership change. They also met BJP president Rajnath Singh.

Acharya and Kumar also called on RSS pointsman and BJP general secretary Ramlal earlier and claimed his support in favour of Yeddyurappa.

Legislators and MPs supporting Yeddyurappa are again to expected to meet Advani.

The chief minister's supporters claimed that the RSS wanted Yeddyurappa should continue in his post. The chief minister's removal is being sought by the powerful Reddy brothers of Bellary.

The Reddy brothers, both ministers in the state cabinet, are lobbying to appoint assembly Speaker Jagadish Shettar as the chief minister.

Shettar, 53, is close to the Bellary brothers - dissident ministers G. Janardhana Reddy (Tourism) and elder brother G. Karunakara Reddy (Revenue).

Shettar also met central party leaders, including Jaitley.

A senior party leader close to the political developments told IANS that "everything is under control and the CM is Mr. Yeddyurappa". All issues would be sorted out in a couple of days, he said.

Asked whether the chief minister still enjoyed the support of the RSS and the BJP leadership, he said: "The Sangh is not against Yeddyurappa."

Four-term legislator Shettar came to the BJP after being a member of the RSS and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).

The BJP government in Karnataka, the party's first in the south, has been facing turmoil for days.

The so called disciplined, cadre based party went all out to get power by hook or by crook. The looters who are raping our country of its wealth came in handy with their money bags. All was well when the going was good. Now that the mining mafia has returned for its pound of flesh everything has begun to unravel and fall apart. The BJP has to blame itself for this mess. If they try to sideline the Reddy mining mafia all the skeletons in the cupboard will start rolling. Every leader in the BJP has been living on the dole handed out by the Reddy mafia.

Today therefore the internal crisis is whether to save Yeddy, The governement or oneself?. Trouble everywhere for the BJP. I think that some of the Congress and JDS leaders too will find themselves exposed sooner or later. The Reddy's are no fools to just back one horse. They have surely oiled hands all over for their own safety. The corruption in India simply knows no limits.

They are all wearing sparkling white clothes, good. I wish they all had a sparkling clean heart like their clothes, and help the needy in the flood affected area. Money is poring in from the people with clean heart to bring relief to the suffering people, but our elected representatives are fighting for power, name and fame.

Our superstitious rulers are running behind astrologers and vastu designers to rectify their bad luck. First let them ask the astrologers and vastu designers to rectify the map of Karnataka and then India for better luck.

The right person to rule our state is no other than Mr Veerendra Heggade, the dharmadhikari of Shri Kshetra Dharmastala, who is not greed for money, who is self less and understands the pain of poor and farmers. Lets have a change.

We would like to see Mr Heggade as our next CM. Please kick out BJP , JDS and Congress and give them a break so that they get fine tuned and refined to our states politics.
