Mangalore, Nov 2: The ‘Karthika Pournami Deepotsava’ (Dind Utsava) of Sri Venkataramana Temple, Car Street, was celebrated on Monday November 2, with the special attraction being the fireworks.
This annual festival is a two-day celebration. As a specialty of this festival, the idols of Lord Venkataramana and Goddess Mahamayi of the temple nearby were kept in a single ‘rath’ (car).
As per tradition, devotees in large numbers participated in this celebration as it was a great opportunity to glimpse both the deities together.
The first day of the festival has a car festival and the second day is known as ‘Bandi Utsava’. Special pooja is offered during this time at the temple.
To mark this event, members of ‘Sevanjali’ on Jodu Math Road, set off a lot of firecrackers for an hour. Devotees celebrated the event joyfully.
