Police mulling to impose curfew in northeast Delhi


New Delhi, Feb 25 (IANS): The Delhi Police is mulling to impose curfew in violence hit northeast Delhi.

Unconfirmed sources told IANS that several rounds of meetings are going on at the LG office as well as the new headquarters of the Delhi Police where it will be decided from what time curfew will be imposed, in which areas and for what duration.

One such source said 35 companies of security and police forces have failed to control the situation and the death toll in the violence was reported to be nine.

Earlier, the three districts of northeast Delhi were put on high alert amid prevailing tension which intensified on Tuesday.

IANS tried to contact top officials of the Delhi Police seeking confirmation about imposing curfew in the violence hit areas but none of them responded.
