Puttur, Nov 5: Relating to the clashes that erupted between two groups of college students belonging to different communities, including an incident of stabbing one of the students on Tuesday November 3, two cases were registered in Uppinangady police station against 64 students of the local government first grade college. The students had fought a pitched battle within the college campus.

On the basis of a complaint filed by Mansur, a first B Com degree student, who was stabbed with a knife, a case was registered against 32 students. At the same time, on the basis of another complaint filed by Dhananjay, a BSW student, another case has been registered against 32 more students.

So far, three students, Samsher, Abdul Rahiman and Harish, have been arrested. Others are absconding, sub-inspector of police, Nagesh, informed.  In the meantime, it is learnt that the college has declared study holidays with immediate effect, till the 15th of this month.
